The Simple Poppy

Hello this is one of my Free tutorials from my September Paint week challenge. I hope you enjoy this Simple Poppy painting.

Whether you have painted before or you are picking up a brush for the very first time, you are in the right place. Over the course of this lesson, we will paint together using simple, loose brushstrokes and vibrant colours, and I will guide you through every step.

Before You Begin the Video Lesson

To paint along with me, you will need your painting surface prepared with the tracing already in place. Everything you need is in the downloadable workbook, which includes:

• The tracing to print out and transfer onto your board

• The recommended materials list

• Step-by-step instructions on how to gesso your board

Please take your time with this preparation. Having your board ready before you press play means you can relax and enjoy the lesson without feeling rushed.

Your Poppy Painting

I hope you enjoy painting this Poppy as much as I did. There is no need to aim for perfection. This is about enjoying the process, playing with colour and letting your brush move freely. If I am going too fast at any point, simply pause the video and catch up. You can also rewind and rewatch any part as many times as you like. Learning at your own pace is what makes it enjoyable.

If you have not already, please join our Facebook group, Colour Your World with Ali Greer. It is a friendly, welcoming space where you can share your work, celebrate your progress and meet fellow artists from all over the world. Seeing what everyone creates is truly inspiring, and every painting is welcome, whatever your experience level.

I will be in the group every day during Paint Week to answer your questions and offer advice, so please do not hesitate to ask.

Now gather your materials, get comfortable, and let's paint!
