What to Expect:
1. Outdoors: Hawk and Heath invite you to slow down:
In our fast-paced work environment, true rest requires more than just logging off—it requires a complete sensory reset.
Immerse yourself in nature. Forest bathing scientifically boosts immunity and
restores mental focus. A guided outdoor forest bathe (Shinrin-yoku) to lower cortisol, clear brain fog, and ground your senses in nature’s late-Autumn shift.
Inhale the grounding aroma of the woods, absorb rich Autumn hues, and let go of weekly tension.
The Benefits of Forest Bathing:
Physical & Physiological Health Benefits
Present-Moment Grounding & Stress Reduction: Forest bathing uses sensory
prompts (sight, sound, scent, touch) to bring participants fully into the present
moment. This sensory immersion naturally lowers cortisol levels, hushes
overactive mental chatter, and quiets anxiety, laying a calm foundation for the
mind to expand.
Immune System Boost: Trees release natural airborne compounds called
phytoncides (plant chemicals with antibacterial and antifungal properties).
Inhaling these during forest bathing boosts the human immune system by
increasing the activity of Natural Killer (NK) cells.
Nervous System Regulation: The combination of gentle nature immersion and
tactile creative practice shifts the nervous system from the "fight-or-flight"
(sympathetic) state into the "rest-and-digest" (parasympathetic) state.
Eye Strain & Screen Fatigue Relief: Looking at natural, recurring visual
patterns in nature (fractals) allows the optic nerve and brain to relax after
hours of screen time.
2. Indoors: Ali Greer invites you to reconnect with your inner artist:
Warm up inside with a delicious homemade plant-based lunch and mindful step-by-
step watercolour and mixed media workshop for both beginners and artists who just
want to be inspired to paint more. Ali has designed an Autumn-themed artistic
wellness course designed to guide you from high stress to creative flow:
Learn how to capture Autumn’s textures—leaf silhouettes, rich earthy tones, and soft
light—in an approachable, stress-free environment. To help you reconnect to your
creative side. Your body will thank you, and your mind will feel a sense of clarity and
achievement. You will be surprised at what you produce under Ali’s gentle and
relaxed teaching style. You’ll learn how to work with Autumn palettes while tapping
into your own intuitive expression. Ali will walk you through essential watercolour
techniques—washes, layering, and brush control—in an encouraging, intuitive
space.
The Benefits of being Creative:
Mindful & Psychological Benefits of Nature & Art
Deep Art Flow States & Heightened Neuroplasticity: Transitioning from nature
to painting allows participants to drop directly into a "flow state"—an optimal
psychological zone of deep, effortless absorption. In this state, the brain's
inner critic goes silent, drastically reducing self-consciousness, boosting
dopamine, and building long-term creative confidence and resilience.
Enhanced Emotional Processing & Cognitive Flexibility: Nature provides a
safe, quiet backdrop for reflection, while the act of painting acts as a powerful
non-verbal outlet. Creative expression allows participants to externalize
complex emotions, thoughts, and feelings, helping to process trauma, reframe
negative emotions, and unlock new pathways for emotional problem-solving.
Digital Detox & Restored Cognitive Vitality: Disconnecting from screens and
reconnecting with natural elements allows the brain's directed-attention
mechanism to rest (Attention Restoration Theory). When paired with the
focused, tactile engagement of artmaking, it actively restores cognitive focus,
short-term memory, mental clarity, and executive functioning.
Expanded Imagination & Divergent Thinking: Combining the expansive, awe-
inspiring scale of the natural world with open-ended artistic creation stimulates
divergent thinking—the ability to generate multiple innovative solutions. This
dual practice trains the brain to embrace ambiguity, take healthy creative
risks, and look at everyday challenges from entirely new perspectives.
Leave with practical art skills, your own autumn-inspired painting, and a restored
nervous system. Balance structure with intuition and learn a new art form under
professional guidance while nourishing your mental health in a wonderful forest walk.
