Artful Distraction

MINDFUL ABSTRACTION

When it comes down to it and I need to forget about my struggles for a while. I go to my abstract designs. Being connected to a creative process can really help calm the soul, don't you agree?

Artful distractions as l I like to call it play an important part of my daily practice.

I was out shopping for some organic vegetables at a local farmers market the other day. When I was stopped in my tracks by some interesting looking foliage. I was was inspired to take a few quick snaps on my mobile as I walked past. From these photographs I produced the above abstract pieces. So you see art is everywhere I go.

As I count down the days to my knee operation I am able to focus on my art. Taking my mind off it and absorbing into another little creative zen world for a while.

My beautiful playful abstract art has helped me focus on being productive and just letting go of my anxiety. As humans we all like to feel in control don't we? But doing and uncontrolled painting somehow allows us the freedom and escape away from worries and cares. Like a little oasis of tranquillity and peacefulness.

So today I am painting myself calm.
